Building a New Baseline: Awareness, Regulation, and Resilience

Course Description: Class opens Sept 14, 2026

Building a New Baseline: Awareness, Regulation, and Resilience is a one-day interactive course-workshop designed to help participants recognize the patterns, triggers, and stress responses that shape their current baseline.

A baseline is the physical, emotional, and behavioral state a person returns to during everyday life. Over time, prolonged stress, demanding environments, difficult experiences, and repeated coping patterns can cause tension, fatigue, irritability, disconnection, or heightened reactivity to feel normal. This course helps participants pause, identify these patterns, and begin developing a healthier and more sustainable response to stress.

Through guided reflection, practical education, grounding exercises, nervous-system regulation strategies, and resilience-building activities, participants will explore how stress affects the mind and body. They will practice techniques that can be used during everyday challenges to increase awareness, interrupt automatic reactions, and return to a more regulated state.

This workshop is Part 1 of the five-part Building a New Baseline Resilience Series. It may also be completed as a stand-alone course and provides practical tools participants can begin using immediately in their personal or professional lives.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course-workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Define a personal baseline and explain how stress, habits, environment, and past experiences may influence it.

  2. Identify personal triggers, early warning signs, and common physical, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral stress responses.

  3. Differentiate between reactive patterns and intentional, regulated responses.

  4. Describe how the nervous system may respond to perceived stress, pressure, or threat.

  5. Recognize individual coping patterns that may support or interfere with regulation and resilience.

  6. Practice grounding, breathing, sensory-awareness, and present-moment techniques that may support nervous-system regulation.

  7. Apply a simple pause-and-reset process during stressful or emotionally activating situations.

  8. Identify personal strengths, protective factors, and supportive practices that contribute to resilience.

  9. Develop an individualized baseline-reset plan that includes personal triggers, preferred regulation techniques, and realistic next steps.

  10. Select at least one resilience-building practice to integrate into daily life following the workshop.

The course may include:

  • Understanding your current baseline

  • Recognizing stress patterns and triggers
